Boston Urban Classic: the BASE
For the second year in a row I have been hired by Roxbury based nonprofit, the BASE, to create their annual fundraiser gala celebration video. This year we decided to film a few events along the way to capture b-roll. For this specific event, their annual Urban Classic Baseball Tournament, I was asked to photograph throughout the tournament. The beauty of the Urban Classic is the atmosphere and family feel. Played at one of the first public high schools in America, Boston English, in Jamaica Plain just down the road from the BASE HQ, the tournament feels like an old school neighborhood ball game filled with cookouts, loud music, occasional dancing and great competition. In this case, most teams traveled out from cities around the country to play in a friendly tournament. The following images were shot alongside filming throughout one day of the tournament. I pulled out the drone for a few shots too...naturally.
